Inside the David Beckham hotel where footballer took THAT topless selfie

comments

His topless pool shot garnered nearly one million likes and more than 10,000 comments, no wonder the Venetian Macao loves working with David Beckham.

The lucky footballer was staying at the luxury hotel in Macau, known as 'The Las Vegas of the East', and while the pool seemed to grab his attention at first, there were plenty of other delights to entice him.

The star has teamed up with the hotel to help promote it around the world and it's easy to see why. Based on the Venice theme, the five-star resort has gondolas to take guests along replica canals, four outdoor swimming pools, more than 21 eateries and even its own shopping malls.

The £1.4billion hotel was clearly delighted with Beckham's Facebook update, reposting it to the Venetian Macao page and responding: 'Our favourite #selfie! Welcome back David Beckham!'

Despite working withthe hotel, it seems Beckham was afforded some relaxation time after spending the weekend working in China, appearing on a TV programme and showing off his football skills as well as helping launch the new Jaguar car.

There was plenty of time to shop for a late 40th birthday present for Victoria, who he celebrated with in Utah before jetting to China, or to have a flutter in the hotel's huge casino.

Gambling is illegal in China, so those who want to indulge must head to the Special Administrative Region of Macau, which has autonomous rules.

Despite being modelled on Las Vegas, Macau's gambling industry is now seven times bigger than its American counterpart's.

Like its sister-property in Las Vegas, The Venetian Macao is a renaissance Venice-themed property featuring stunning replicas of Venice landmarks such as St. Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, Campanile Tower, and three indoor canals with gondolas and singing gondoliers.

The hotel has 3,000 all-suite guest rooms and the casino floor, at 550,000 square feet, is the largest in the world and home to 870 table games and more than 3,400 slot machines.

It's not the first time a hotel has garnered huge interest thanks to Beckham's presence.

When the star visited Rio de Janeiro during Carnival he stayed at the city's most stylish hotel, the Fasano, right on Ipanema Beach.

One of Rio's most fashionable districts, fringed with golden sands and packed with trendy boutiques, Ipanema was the perfect retreat for the footballer.

And there was nowhere better for him to take in the city than from the hotel's rooftop infinity pool, which offered views across the bay.
