Estate on island of Tobago in Caribbean on sale for £10m

Forget spending a few thousand pounds for a brief stay in paradise on a Caribbean island – why not buy your own piece of idyllic coastline?
Someone with deep pockets has a chance to do just that now that a 300-acre estate on the island of Tobago has hit the market with an asking price of £10m.
Located near the Tobago Main Ridge Forest Reserve, one of the world's oldest protected national parks, the untouched estate has over three miles of stunning coastline with sandy beaches and crystal blue sheltered waters.
The area, part of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago off the northern coast of South America, is popular with divers because there are many old shipwrecks to explore.
Luxury real estate firm Debutesq Group said the site offers the perfect opportunity for investors because authorities have granted planning permission for a leisure resort on an area known as the L'Anse Fourmi Estate on the island's northeast coastline.
The company said: 'The estate is one of few remaining unspoilt properties in an area of outstanding natural beauty beneath the high ridge of a protected tropical rainforest.
'Extensive areas of flat land formerly used for cocoa planting lie behind the tree-lined beaches which are ideal for the construction of a luxury resort.'
Debutesq Group said the resort could include accommodation for over 360 guests, restaurants, bars, a spa, fitness centre, tennis courts, pool and conference centre.
Plans also include a small marina complete with a diving centre and fishing boats, and the Tobago House of Assembly recently completed the final stage of a road network connecting the previously inaccessible beaches fronting the estate.
Debutesq Group said the current owners, Anse Fourmi Beach Resorts Ltd, will consider a joint venture with suitable partners or an outright sale of their freehold interest for £10m.
