There are no long queues at security, no grumpy faces and no plastic bags to contain your 100ml bottles - this was truly the golden age of travel.
In this vintage advert that has resurfaced, passengers walk around smiling and the narrative tells us how glamorous flying is.
The short film, a promotion for Los Angeles' LAX, was shot in 1970 and was written, produced, directed and narrated by local news legend Clete Roberts.
With a smooth voice-over, a jazzy score, simple dialogue and timeless black and white imagery, the footage starts with with footage of an air hostess, a baggage attendant and close-up images of passengers and aeroplanes taking off.
'Airports, big metropolitan airports are glamorous affairs,' Roberts says enthusiastically.
'It makes no difference where they are located be it Berlin, London, Tokyo or Los Angeles.
'Airports are downright exciting.
'Los Angeles airport, LAX, is perhaps the most exciting of them all.'
