The idea may seem unfathomable for travellers accustomed to standing in queue for more than an hour for flights at London's overcrowded airports.
But at London City, already the country's speediest airport, things are becoming even more fast-tracked as CityJet introduces a new 50-second check-in system.
The airline has announced the Sonic 'phase 5' Self Bag Tag system, which enables passengers to tag and drop off their luggage and be on their way in less than a minute.
Fast track: Passengers at London City airport can take advantage of a new Self Bag Tag system which allows them to be on their way in under a minute
Once they have checked in for their flight at home or at a self service kiosk, passengers weigh their bags and use their boarding pass at the Self Bag Tag kiosk to generate a label for their luggage, which they then drop off at the designated bag drop zone.
CEO CityJet Christine Ourmières says that every minute counts for Cityjet's business travellers.
'We're constantly looking at ways to invest in technology in order to improve our passenger service, and this new bag-tagging system genuinely simplifies and speeds up the check-in process for our customers,' Ourmières said.
'Our customers travel with us because we offer a fast and reliable service – cutting minutes off check in time may not seem like much, but it matters to our passengers who demand a speedy service.'

Declan Collier, CEO, London City Airport, added: 'The introduction of Phase 5 Technology bag drop kiosks will offer CityJet customers more flexibility and choice in managing their own experience while in the airport.
'One of the main reasons why people choose to travel through London City Airport is the short time it takes to check in. Now CityJet passengers can check in even more quickly.
'We are investing heavily in new technology and seeking innovative new ways to reduce the need to queue, to ease the journey through the airport and to help people make the most of their time with us.'
