A real Taste of the Sea: Ice lolly 'decorated with seaweed' hoping to be a Bank Holiday favourite
comments
Ice lollies are a seaside tradition - but now there's one that actually claims to taste of the ocean.
Visitors to the North Wales resorts of Llandudno and Conwy have been trying lollies that promises a truly authentic 'Taste of the Sea.'
That is the name of the new sea salt flavoured ice lolly, which is even decorated with seaweed.
A Conwy confectioner has created the lolly, which contains salt made from water sourced from Llandudno beach.
Positive vibes: The Taste of the Sea ice lolly has already gone down well with the children in Conwy
The lollies also have caramel flavouring and are decorated with seaweed straight from the area's famous coastline.
Available at Parisella's Ice Cream Parlour, visitors to Conwy and neighbouring seaside resort Llandudno can get their hands on the special edition ice lolly - already trialled by local children - over the bank holiday weekend.
Tony Parisella, of Parisella's Ice Cream Parlour said: 'The sea salt really compliments the sweet caramel flavour and although we often get unusual flavour requests, we are expecting this to be our most successful yet.
'Who knows, it could overtake the 99 as the seaside staple in Conwy.'

Big fans: Four-year-old Mollie and Angus the cocker spaniel both got to enjoy the natural ice cream
The wacky invention was created after Conwy County Borough Council worked with the ice cream parlour to entice visitors to the area.
Jim Jones, tourism and communities section head at the local authority, added: 'What better way to give visitors a true seaside experience than to enjoy a taste of the sea?
'We've already enjoyed a record number of visitors to Conwy this summer, helped by the launch of a multimedia Alice in Wonderland town trail and the re-launch of Llandudno's Landing Stage which has reopened the area back up to the sea.'
The Taste of the Sea ice lolly costs £1.50 and is made by award-winning husband and wife duo Mark and Emma of Baravelli in collaboration with Parisella's.
