THIRD of Britons say their top holiday memory is family camping trip

Camping trips are far more memorable than flash holidays abroad, according to a new poll.
A third (34 per cent) of those surveyed said pitching a tent with their family for a week of fun in the British countryside was their top summer memory.
They said it was more enjoyable than sporting activities, days at friend's houses and holidays abroad as they got to experience quality family time, a high level of freedom and learnt something new.
Experiencing the great outdoors: More than a third of those surveyed put camping as their top summer memory
Seven out of 10 of those said spending time with their family away from the stresses and strains of everyday life made the experience carefree and relaxing, as per a survey of 2,000 adults aged 25 to 35 for instant barbecue firm Bar-Be-Quick.
By contrast, they recall their parents being fraught and frantic at airports.
Among the favourite camping activities were staying up late, playing outdoors, sleeping in the same tent as other family members and eating alfresco.
Other fond summertime childhood memories include playing with neighbours (13 per cent), building dens (10 per cent) and visiting relatives (nine per cent).

Caroline Hoare, national account manager at Bar-Be-Quick, said: 'Children love the simple pleasures of life, so it's no surprise that they hold camping holidays with family in such high regard.
'When kids learn or experience something new, it really sticks in their mind and this is testament to that.
'Although they may not be able to guarantee sunshine and are required to forego their home comforts, the simplicity of camping trips holds strong appeal for British families.
'Parents often worry about their children's safety when they're overseas, from food choices to strangers, whereas camping in the UK offers them a home away from home that eases their woes.'
