Being scammed while abroad can turn a great holiday into a nightmare very quickly.

And just as fast as holidaymakers learn how these conmen and thieves work, the scammers come up with new ideas to take money from you.

With that in mind, a new infographic reveals the top 40 tourist scams travellers should watch out for this summer.

Breaking it down by types of scam and the destinations where the crime is most common, justtheflight.co.uk has picked out the most popular ones.

Scams include the fake takeaway menu in the US - where you'll find a hefty bank charge for using them instead of the hotel restaurant - and the seller in Europe who will unfold a map in front of your face as their accomplice pickpockets you.

There's also the Athens flirt - a woman who will take a single male traveller to a bar for drinks, only for him to be given an extortionate bill at the end of the night.

Another one to watch out for is the Las Vegas getaway taxi driver who will take your luggage and speed away before you can get in.
