15 ways to beat jetlag infographic

comments

From headaches and exhaustion, to disturbed sleep to even diarrhoea, the symptoms of jetlag can be a nightmare for frequent flyers.

The reason why travellers jetting around the world suffer is due to the body's natural 24-hour clock being disrupted by crossing time zones, according to a new infographic.

The visual explains how jetlag is caused by the direction of a flight - not its length.

And reveals that over-60s are even more susceptible to the symptoms than younger holidaymakers.

Compiled by Thomas Cook, the infographic offers holidaymakers advice about what they can do to ease jetlag - including wearing sunglasses and drinking lots of water on board the flight.

Other ideas include staying on 'home time' for short trips, seeking sunshine in the afternoon when travelling east, and taking short naps to recover lost sleep.
