Travel apps have made our lives so much easier when holidaying abroad, allowing us to download maps, search for local restaurants, and even translate menus.
Indeed, many travellers have ditched their traditional travel guides for the virtual version in their pocket.
Now a travel comparison website has revealed the best location-based apps in a handy infographic.
Dealchecker.co.uk's must-have downloads include Word Lens, which translates words via your phone's camera and Touch Notes, which allows you to create your own postcard.
There's also an app that tells you the best time of the day to take photographs, based on your location and one that calculates how much you should tip, according to the country's culture and practises.
Travellers can also find the nearest restaurant or ATM machine, along with retrieving emergency numbers for each country.
The site says: 'With the large variety of nifty location-based apps available, the other side of the world can become as familiar as your back garden - even for the most unorganised of us.'
