The worst travel photos in the world compete to win title of top terrible holiday snap

comments

There are plenty of competitions to find the world's best travel photographs - but few people think to celebrate the worst snaps ever taken.

One company has launched a search for terrible travel pictures and has been astounded at just how bad some entries have been.

When website CheapHolidayLand.com launch its competition last month it provided some inspiration shots in the form of blurry penguin shots, backs of heads and splashes in a swimming pool, when the subject has already disappeared form sight.

But judges have been astounded at the delightfully poor quality of snaps being sent in by members of the public, claiming they have 'inundated' with terrible pictures.

Whether it is a headless seal or a man photobombed by a flower, the overall concept has been well and truly embraced by British travellers, who are merrily submitting their worst holiday efforts.

But with the competition still not due to close for another month, judges are hoping for a stand-out submission to steal the crown and win a top-of-the-range camera.

Steve Barnes from CheapHolidayLand.com said: 'We have been completely overwhelmed by the number of entries we've seen entered.

'Some of them are a tour de force of photographic incompetence whereas others are just plain wrong.

'One thing is for sure, all the entries this year have made us chuckle, with some even having us rolling with laughter.'

Submissions can be made to worstphotographer@cheapholidayland.com.

Heads or tails? This poor seal seems to have lost his head completely in this rather inept shot of him posing poolside

Centre stage: The Pyramids may have been in Egypt for millennia but they're certainly secondary to the main subject of this picture, thanks to a mis-alignment by the photographer

Making a splash: This diver will be delighted with the action-shot their friend managed to snap of them - or perhaps not...

Photobomb: This man's grand finish, crashing into the water from a big slide, was completely interrupted by a bystander who chose that exact moment to point out something else

Optical illusion: Somehow the photographer behind this spectacular snap has managed to half cut off the family, turn them at a 45-degree angle and make the whole picture completely out of focus

Ripple effect: Taking a photo of this holidaymaker while half-submerged has managed to create a magnifying glass effect
Dark times: The Disney Castle is barely visible in this night shot photo fail

Photo fails: While this holidaymaker is snapped in the water, creating a magnifying glass effect, the Disney castle on the right is hardly shown in its best light either, simply a blurry mass in the background overshadowed by a limp firework in the foreground

Down in one: 'And this is grandma doing a shot in the pub on our trip'.... perhaps not a picture to put in the family album
