How to take the perfect holiday selfie revealed

comments

It is the ultimate way to brag on holiday and a favourite with the stars - but there is a technique to capturing the perfect sunny selfie.

Named Oxford Dictionary's Word of the Year, the selfie has taken over our feeds on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Nearly half (44 per cent) of people surveyed by Hotels4U admit to taking a selfie while on holiday, with 25 per cent not even waiting until their plane takes off - snapping their first photo in the airport.

The most popular poses include photos of legs or feet in the sand facing the beach, a couple sharing a kiss (especially in front of an iconic landmark) and a quick snap in front of a stunning sunset.

In order to ensure the most flattering photo possible, the discount hotel website has put together a list of dos and don'ts, including tips for posing in a swimsuit and maneuvering the camera for the best possible angle on the beach.

Possible hashtags to consider including for each type of photo is also included, such as a #nom hashtag when posing next to a particularly appetising dish.

And for a photo that really screams 'cultured tourist,' try to refrain from a cliche pose, like touching the tip of the Eiffel Tower.

Instead, slip on a stylish pair of sunglasses for a Parisian chic photo - no matter where you are - and to keep you from squinting.
