What NOT to pack on holiday (if you want to keep the peace)

The secret to a harmonious holiday could be what you leave behind rather than what you pack, according to a new survey.
In a bid to keep the peace during a trip, men should leave behind all T-shirts with inappropriate slogans, Hawaiian shirts, leather sandals they plan to wear with socks - and anything corduroy, according to female travellers.
And women should limit themselves to three pairs of shoes, one moisturiser and only the barest medication, claim men.
Suitcase war! Men and women are driven mad by the unnecessary items their partners take away
The travel tips come from Over 50s online travel review and advice site Silver Travel Adviser, which claims arguments often break out before couples even set foot out of the front door.
It asked its members about their partners most irritating packing habits.
And it found the top ten things women would prefer men didn't pack included family-sized aerosols, speedo-style trunks and electronic gadgets.
Taking off: Women ranked mens' Hawaiian shirts as one of their pet holiday peeves
The top ten items men would prefer women not to pack were a little more tongue in cheek - and included kettles, family photographs, anything flamboyant... and clothes!
The company's managing director Debbie Marshall said 'Our members have listed their partners' most annoying packing habits, with inappropriate clothing being the most annoying male faux-pas and excessive beauty products and unnecessary extras being the most annoying female trait.
'We hope the experiences of our mature travellers will contribute to others finding holiday harmony this summer!'
THE ITEMS MEN DON'T WANT WOMEN TO PACK...
More than three pairs of shoes. (We have two feet and one suitcase).
`Essentials' such as a universal sink stopper, inflatable coat hanger or lobster pick
A kettle
Photographs of the family
Clothes. Without them life is more interesting.
A suitcase. Most men would rather the contents arrived magically in the hotel room
More than one moisturiser or cleanser
Excessive medication
Anything brightly coloured or garish
Large or embarrassing headwear
AND WHAT WOMEN WOULD RATHER MEN LEAVE BEHIND...
T-shirts with inappropriate slogans on them and Hawaiian shirts
Leather sandals with socks
Anything made from corduroy
A `family sized' aerosol of shaving foam (once out of the can, it never goes back)
Speedos
A Beanie hat
A compass or other navigation system
Shoulder carried video cameras and excessively large photographic equipment
Gadgets. Leave your inner geek at home
Buoyancy aids. If you can't swim, don't swim
Book your travel
Put the internet to work for you.
