Sunbathing topless, skinny dipping and getting a tattoo: 60% of Brits admit to daredevil behaviour on holiday

Topless sunbathing, skinny dipping and getting married to strangers are all things Brits are prepared to do while on holiday – but not at home.

A quarter of holidaymakers admit to stripping off for an almost all-over tan while away, while the same number would happily go for a skinny dip, according to a survey.

Go to a stranger's party (21 per cent), white-water rafting (19 per cent), and interacting with a dangerous animal (18 per cent), make up the top five daredevil things Brits admit to doing while away.

The survey of 2,000 adults was carried out by Hotels.com, and revealed 60 per cent of Brits behave more carefree while on holiday, but not while at home.

Other activities holidaymakers have done while on holiday but wouldn't do at home include: getting a piercing or tattoo (13 per cent); Skydiving (12 per cent); bungee jumping (10 per cent); travelt in an unlicensed taxi (7 per cent); and get married spontaneously (7 per cent).

Britain's older women prove to be the more daring, with 50 per cent of over 45s revealing they would sunbathe topless abroad, compared to 25 per cent of 16-24-year-old.

'Our research helps to show that Brits can find a daredevil activity to take part in whatever our age – we just hope that everyone has the correct holiday insurance whilst all these daring acts are happening!'
