In Brazil to support her husband and the England team, Coleen Rooney has just checked in to Rio de Janeiro's Fasano hotel with her family.

Set on stylish Ipanema Beach, the £700-a-night hotel rubs shoulders with some of the most exclusive shops and boutiques in the city and has become something of a celebrity favourite.

With its rooftop infinity pool, sea views and decor by French interior designer Philippe Starck, it is hardly surprising that Coleen is not the first celebrity to stay at Rio's most stylish address.

When David Beckham touched down in Rio during Carnival in March, he also made straight for the Fasano and was spotted taking in the sweeping coastal views from his balcony - much as Coleen did as soon as she arrived.

The former England star kicked off his adventure tour of Brazil in the spectacular hotel, which has 92 rooms, with either a courtyard or ocean view.

There are also 10 suites, with the spectacular views over the verdant Dois Irmãos mountain towering over the city as well as the golden sands of Ipanema.

For even better views of the 'Marvellous City', stars can head up to the rooftop infinity pool for a swim before heading onto a special area of Ipanema Beach reserved exclusively for hotel guests.

Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga ad Megan Fox are also said to have stayed at the wood, metal and glass hotel, which boasts so many contemporary items of furniture with unusual designs it could almost be considered a gallery.

And Kate Moss was just there in April this year, wearing a khaki green bikini as she chattered on her phone while taking in the amazing views.

Ipanema itself is one of the most exclusive areas of the city, packed with restaurants and bars serving up a mixture of oval dishes ad international cuisine, as well as designer shopping streets worthy or the world capitals.

Journey Latin America is quoting with three-night stays at the Fasano hotel from £2,122 per person.
